Introduction:

Euphemism means:

A softer, more polite or less direct way to say something unpleasant, embarrassing, rude or sensitive. It is a “gentler expression”.

Instead of saying something too direct, we use a nicer or softer phrase.

Old Age

Direct: “Old” 

➡️Old people often need regular medical checkups.
➡️My grandpa is old.

Euphemism: Senior citizens; getting on in years

➡️Senior citizens often need regular medical checkups.
➡️My grandfather is getting on in years.
